Final Draft of Essay + Reflection on Process
The process of constructing the final draft of my inquiry paper was smooth sailing. By creating an outline in the beginning, as well as a literature review, it was easier for me to choose what direction I wanted to go in with all of my information such as organization and structure. With that being said, the composition itself wasn't complicated. After the peer revision, I became even more confident in my work due to the amount of of positive feedback I had received. However, I would have to say the most difficult part for me was deciding on if I should completely insert my voice or not. Making this decision was not an easy task because I am an introvert and keep most things to myself. It is hard for me to open up to others and this topic was very serious because for me, it is a reality. My reality. I believe that not choosing to insert myself into the conversation would have ended up hindering me because the reader probably would not have been as impacted as they were (my peers during peer revision). But now I feel as though my voice really put into perspective of the benefits of art therapy, why it should be more commonly implemented, and in turn gave the audience a better understanding of my stance and topic. The processes in which I benefitted the most from were peer revision, organizing my paper by main points in addition to sources, and taking a step back from my work and later revisiting it with a clear and opened mind. I ended up composing three drafts total: the working draft for the peer review, the first draft, and the second/final draft. As far as revising goes, I was able to further break down my topics and going more in depth about each as well as construct my introduction and conclusion. My introduction has two parts to it: My voice or personal account and art therapy itself (what is it and how it is effective). All in all I have learned to embrace my writing process. Once you obtain all of your information and know what you want to say, you will constantly have to revise. Revision comes before editing. When you revise, you are making changes or additions to your paper as a whole including structure and organization. Lastly, you make your edits which are grammatical and punctual errors.
